Man Utd working to sign 'one of brightest talents' with talks ongoing amid 'big interest' from Arsenal

Manchester United are reportedly working on a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page.

BBC Sport suggests talks are ongoing over a proposed move for the 18-year-old, who is described as 'one of the most exciting talents' outside the Premier League.

Page is already an England Under-20 international and has made 21 senior appearances for Leicester during his professional career. The teenager made five starts for the Foxes as they were relegated from the Championship last season and started in their weekend win over Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup.

The midfielder was named EFL Apprentice of the Year last season and isn't believed to be short of attention in the summer transfer window. The report claims that both Arsenal and Aston Villa have shown a 'big interest' in his signature, though it is United who are closest to completing a deal.

Page signed a professional contract with Leicester in September 2025, so Michael Carrick's side will have to agree a transfer fee for his services, rather than a compensation package. That isn't believed to be an issue, though, with the League One side prepared to cash in on another of their prize assets this summer.

Leicester have already sold teenage superstar Jeremy Monga to Manchester City for an initial fee of £10 million, plus performance-related add-ons.

Despite their struggles at senior level last season, the Foxes have an impressive track record of producing youth talent in recent years, with the likes of Page and Monga both given playing time last season. When he signed his first professional deal last year, the Foxes described Page as "one of the brightest talents" in their system.

Page joined Leicester at under-9s level and made his senior debut against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup a year ago.

The dynamic midfielder was part of the Leicester U16 side that won the Premier League Cup in 2024 and was included in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2024: 20 of the best talents at Premier League clubs series later that year.

Page was also a member of the England squad for the U17 World Cup last year and started in both their opening match against Venezuela and their knockout round match against South Korea. He featured from the bench as the Three Lions were knocked out by Austria in the last-16.

United's proposed move for Page is part of their wider aim to sign the best young talent as early as possible in an effort to save themselves millions further down the line.

The Red Devils have already completed a deal for Tottenham Hotspur winger Tynan Thompson this summer, for an initial £4 million fee, plus a further £4m in potential add-ons.
