Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo reveal which player they would like to be stuck on a desert island with

Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have picked the one player they would choose to be stranded on a desert island with.

The teenage pair have been two of Erik ten Hag's shining lights this season in what has been a difficult campaign.

With an FA Cup final against Manchester City to come, the Red Devils still have a slim hope of qualifying for Europe by winning the competition, but can still do so via league finishing position.

With plenty of players to pick from - with the candidate most likely to be injured, given United's current misfortunes - Mainoo and Garnacho provided the reasoning for their joint choice.

"I don't know, actually I am going to change my answer," began Mainoo when dissecting the tricky question.

Turning to reveal their answer, the United duo both opted for tough-tackling defender Lisandro Martinez.

"Licha is really popular, huh," began the reporter.

"My main reason is because we speak the same language, so this is the most important [thing]," said Garnacho.

"For me I think he would just hunt for food," added Mainoo.

"Because he's the butcher, that's the main reason. He would just want to talk but he would want to survive!"

Martinez has been a huge miss for Manchester United this season, having featured only 11 times in total.

The Argentinian has, however, recently returned to first-team training, with the onus on now being fit for the crucial FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month.

Manager Ten Hag told the media this week that he will have to be careful in not rushing the 26-year-old back into action so soon.

“Yesterday Licha came to me and he wanted to play on Sunday against Arsenal,” said the United boss on Friday in his pre-match press conference.

“But he is not ready yet. He needs a little bit more time to go through the process, but he is so desperate.”
