Crazy stat from Bournemouth defeat proves how far Man Utd have fallen since Sir Alex left

Manchester United have now lost more Premier League home games since Sir Alex Ferguson retired than they did during his 21 seasons in charge.

It was another Saturday afternoon to forget for Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United side, who were beaten convincingly by in-form Bournemouth.

Goals from Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi sealed a historic win for the Cherries – a team that continue to impress following recent wins against Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

But the headlines will naturally belong to the home side as they continue to struggle for consistency.

In fact, after Bournemouth secured their first ever Premier League victory against United at Old Trafford, another damning stat emerged surrounding their latest defeat.

It turns out United have now lost more Premier League games at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 as they did during his 26-year stint at the club.

To add further perspective to that remarkable statistic, Ferguson lost 34 out of a possible 405 league games at the Theatre of Dreams.

And since his retirement, United have lost 35 out of a possible 199 league games – a damning indictment of their success under David Moyes, Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.

On top of the above record, United's defeat to Bournemouth was the first time in Premier League history they have lost a game at Old Trafford by three or more goals against a team in the bottom half of the table.

After the full-time whistle, Gary Lineker posed the question: "Has anyone ever won manager of the month and lost their job in the same weekend?"

It is a quite remarkable series of events for the Dutch manager, who was handed the Premier League Manager of the Month award for November after United won all three of their games, keeping a clean sheet in each.

It was the third time Ten Hag had taken home the accolade but doubts over his future remain following their latest defeat to Bournemouth.

Thoughts on Saturday's result? Let us know in the comments.
