Manchester United fans have been left furious with one player after what happened seconds before Bodo/Glimt's shock second goal at Old Trafford.

United took a first minute lead in the Europa League fixture after Rasmus Hojlund capitalised on a goalkeeping error, with Alejandro Garnacho on hand to tap the ball over the line.

But the Norwegian visitors grew into the game and scored an equaliser in stunning fashion through Hakon Evjen's 20-yard curling strike into the top left corner.

They then took a shock 2-1 lead through ex-Watford and Nottingham Forest winger Phillip Zinckernagel - and the manner of the goal will have sent alarm bells ringing around Old Trafford.

The Denmark international received a long ball before out-sprinting Tyrell Malacia, who is making his start in 18 months after recovering from a knee injury.

He then slotted the ball past Andre Onana to send the majority of the stadium into stunned silence.

But rather than Malacia, United fans were not happy with another player when watching the replay back.

As Bodo/Glimt looked to play out from the back, Lisandro Martinez left his position at centre-back and charged into midfield in an attempt to close an opposition player down.

But the visitors bypassed that player and played into the middle, with the long ball over the top leaving the Argentinian in no man's land in midfield.

That meant Martinez was not in a position to close Zinckernagel down, and he had a one-on-one sprint against Malacia to leave him clean through on goal.

United did equalise before half-time through Hojlund, but the second goal conceded hadn't been forgotten.

Although some fans suggested that United's number six pressing forward was part of the plan, others questioned why he was so far up field - and called on Amorim to make a change if that was indeed part of the plan.

One wrote: "Where is Martinez in these two goals??"

A second said: "Everybody is blaming Malacia, where is Lisandro Martinez..."

A third added: "How many times have we seen Martinez out of position and pressing too high this season? Inexcusable."

A fourth stated: "Lisandro Martinez in wide channels. It's so over for him under this manager."

United eventually won the game 3-2 after Hojlund scored his second goal of the game in the second half.
