Manchester United fans are convinced that Benjamin Sesko will sign for them after spotting a transfer 'hint' on Instagram.

RB Leipzig striker Sesko has been persistently linked with a move to the Premier League for the past 12 months, with Manchester United, Newcastle and Arsenal all believed to be interested at one stage.

Rumours of Sesko's arrival at United began all the way back in the summer of 2023 - despite the fact that he had already agreed to sign for Leipzig from RB Salzburg.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ruben Amorim's side are 'advancing' in their pursuit of the Slovenia international.

Leipzig unveiled their third kit for the 2025/26 season on Friday, but Sesko was not featured in any of the photos.

But that is not the only 'hint' to emerge over the course of Friday.

Twitter account @AcademyScoop - who covers Manchester United's academy teams - posted a photo of Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, at Old Trafford's training ground. The photo was liked by Sesko's account.

Even a glancing look at the photo shows that it isn't recent - if the Christmas tree in the background doesn't give it away - but it is the nature of the caption that has alerted United fans.

It reads: "Always a pleasure to be here. Manchester United will rise again..."

Basanovic has been at Old Trafford on numerous occasions, including in May 2024.

Should United get a deal over the line for the 22-year-old frontman, he would become their third summer signing.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have already arrived from Brentford and Wolves respectively for a combined fee of over £125 million.

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Leipzig will not sell Sesko for below their asking price of £64.8 million.

The issue is further amplified by the fact that Sesko, who has scored 27 goals in the Bundesliga since his 2023 arrival, has four years left on his contract.

According to football business expert Dave Powell (via Manchester Evening News), United are able to splash out big sums this summer despite no European football because of share sale costs related to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's takeover.

That, alongside significant player trading, it is said, will allow them to not be in breach of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability (PSR) regulations.

United have loaned Marcus Rashford to Barcelona with an option to buy, but still need to get big earners Jadon Sancho and Casemiro off the wage bill and deal with the futures of outcast wingers Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
