Man United maintain insane record that is hard to believe with Arsenal draw

Manchester United hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday and led at half-time.

Manchester United have maintained one of the most incredible records in all of sport after their clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Against the run of play, Bruno Fernandes put the hosts ahead with a stunning free-kick just before half-time - with David Raya and Arsenal's wall questioned by Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Paul Merson despite the incredible effort.

Declan Rice levelled matters with a similarly brilliant strike in off the post in the 74th minute and after two fine saves from Raya - including a late double stop - the spoils were shared between the two giants of English football.

And because United led at the break and did not lose, it means their outrageous unbeaten streak continued.

At home in the league since May 1984, United have not lost any of the 389 games whereby they have been in front at half-time.

In that time the Red Devils have won 355 times, and drawn 34 matches at Old Trafford - the latest being against second-placed Arsenal. They have not tasted defeat on a single occasion in a run which spans more than 40 years and includes reigns involving Ron Atkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Ryan Giggs, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ruben Amorim.

The last time United lost after winning at the break was on May 7, 1984, when they hosted Ipswich Town. Mark Hughes put the Red Devils in the lead but the Tractor Boys turned things around after strikes from Mich D'Avray and Alan Sunderland in the second half.

The result, which came at a time when Margaret Thatcher was the United Kingdom's Prime Minister, proved costly as Liverpool went on to win the title for the third consecutive season, with United finishing in fourth - six points behind the Reds.

On Sunday, United moved up to 14th with the draw, while Arsenal remain in second but now find themselves 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool as the Premier League title slips further away from their clutches.

Both return to action next week in European action, with Arsenal hosting PSV in the Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday and United taking on Real Sociedad in the Europa League a day later.
