Manchester United are reportedly ready to sell four key players if the Saudi Professional League rule change is approved.

During the summer transfer window, Saudi Professional League clubs were busy splashing the cash to lure some of Europe’s biggest players to the Middle East.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Neymar, Ruben Neves, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante all ditched Europe for Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the January transfer window, it has been reported that the Saudi Professional League could be set for a rule change.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Saudi Professional League are considering changing the number of foreign players allowed in squads for next season.

This rule change is a bid to boost the competition’s brand and increase their strength in the transfer market even further.

Recently, it was reported that United’s Director of Football, John Murtough has been in Saudi Arabia to establish connections before the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic, United could be open to selling as many as four first-team players.

The players in question are Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

Sancho has been exiled from the first team fold ever since his public spat with manager Erik ten Hag, whilst the likes of Martial and Varane have found themselves on the fringes of the team.

Last week, it was confirmed that British billionaire and INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed a deal to buy a 25% stake in the Old Trafford club.

It has been widely reported that Ratcliffe and his team will take charge of the football operations at United, with the Glazers heading up the commercial side.

After Ratcliffe’s deal was agreed, it has been claimed that Murtough could leave the club as the INEOS boss is eyeing a major shake-up of the hierarchy.

United are back in Premier League action this weekend as they travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
