Manchester United may have accidentally dropped a huge transfer hint when unveiling their 2025/26 home kit on Thursday (June 12).

Manchester United made their new home kit available for purchase at 9 am on Thursday.

The jersey includes a nod towards the club’s home stadium, Old Trafford, with the words “Theatre of Dreams” emblazoned on the neckline.

Alongside fans giving their takes on the design of the kit (which you can shop here), some noticed a subtle transfer hint.

Several players, including captain Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Mason Mount, were all spotted in a promotional video, but another player’s presence in the advertisement has caused some fans to conclude that he is “staying” at the club.

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo took part in the promotional campaign despite several reports linking him with a move away from United in recent months.

Back in March, the Guardian reported that United would be willing to sell the player for around £70m as the England international could “seek a move abroad”.

However, in May, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that “At the moment, no concrete talks taking place. The situation has gone quiet. Let's see if bids come in this summer”.

Mainoo, 20, had previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, but as things stand, interest seems to have cooled.

The Stockport-born midfielder had an excellent 2023/24 campaign, scoring in United’s FA Cup final victory against rivals Manchester City, as well as featuring at Euro 2024.

But in 2024/25, the 20-year-old struggled to stay fit and made just 25 appearances in the Premier League, registering zero goals and assists.

Amorim insisted that the club needed to “help” Mainoo back in April.

“We need to help him,” said Amorim. “We need to find a little bit, like Casemiro in this moment is playing better, because we are understanding better the way that Casemiro can play, and I think we can do that with Kobbie, because he has a lot of qualities.

“He's really good on the ball. But he's also really good near the opponent's box, so we'll try to manage all that, to try to find the right space for a player like Kobbie.”

He added: "I think that is also a little bit the problem [that he's achieved so much so young]. When I see Kobbie Mainoo, I see a lot of talent, but in the way I see - I could be wrong, that's for sure - I see some things that Kobbie Mainoo has to improve."

Mainoo is contracted to United until June 2027.
