Manchester United fans have been mocked for celebrating their 0-0 draw against Liverpool like they had won a trophy.

On Sunday afternoon, United travelled to Liverpool hoping to spring an almighty surprise after their recent run of form.

Liverpool were the firm favourites but they failed to break down a stubborn United defence as Erik ten Hag’s men managed to secure a 0-0 draw.

After the match, Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk was heavily criticised by former United captain Roy Keane after the Dutchman’s comments in his post-match interview.

After the match, a video of United fans celebrating when the final whistle sounded went viral.

The video was taken from the YouTube channel United View, who were live streaming as they watched the clash between two giants of English football.

Rival fans were quick to mock them on social media, one said: “How Far They Have Fallen! Celebrating Like They Won A Trophy.”

Another tweeted: “This is incredible I can’t believe what I’m seeing.”

A third fan added: “How the mighty has fallen.”

Someone else wrote: “This is so lame, Man U used to be a big club, Ten Hag has destroyed a legacy. Glazers out.”

Speaking after the match, United boss Ten Hag said: “I said after the game in the dressing room that I was very proud of the team. We should do this more often. We stayed in the game and were disciplined with the game plan.

“We proved today what we are capable of. If we bring this every time on the pitch we are a hard team to beat and we can go on and win games - and big games.”

On the back of the disappointing draw, Liverpool fell to second place in the Premier League table, one point behind Arsenal, who they host at Anfield this weekend.
