Fans can’t quite get their heads around what Lisandro Martinez did during Manchester United’s match against Crystal Palace.

On Saturday evening, Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils arrived at Selhurst Park to take on Palace looking to make it two wins in a row in the Premier League.

In what was a cagey first half, United had more of the ball and created numerous chances but they failed to put the ball past Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who was once on United's books.

In the second half, United defender Martinez left everyone baffled as he appeared to needlessly jump two-footed into a challenge on the edge of the Palace box.

As a result, the Argentine received a yellow card from referee David Coote.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Lisandro Martinez should not be getting away with this type of tackles, the intention alone worth Red card.”

Another tweeted: “United fan but that was honestly a red card offence. How Lisandro Martinez is on the pitch despite having a VAR is beyond anyone.”

A third fan added: “Is Lisandro Martínez trying to set a Premier League record for most challenges that should have been a red card but somehow weren’t?”

Someone else wrote: “Sorry but if a player jumps in like Lisandro Martinez just did it should be an automatic red card, regardless of whether it connects and breaks the player's leg or not.”

A fifth commented: “That should be a red card for Lisandro Martinez. Wild, dangerous, completely out of control. The intent was there to seriously hurt Kamada. He shouldn’t escape the red card just because he missed.”

Another fan said: “What the hell was that from Lisandro Martinez???? And how the f*** is that not a red card??? 2 footed stamp, directly at a player, that’s dangerous play.”
