Leny Yoro has shared a defiant message on social media after suffering a crushing injury blow to his Manchester United career.

Yoro joined Man United in a deal worth £58.9 million as the Red Devils fended off competition from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

He made an instant impression on his debut against Rangers, impressing fans online.

But Yoro pulled up in his side's first game of their pre-season tour of the United States.

He sustained a foot injury against Arsenal and was later seen using crutches, with his foot in a protective boot.

The 18-year-old has since undergone surgery as the club have announced he will 'return to fitness in around three months'.

A statement released on Monday read: "Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months."

It's a major blow for Man United and Erik ten Hag alike as there was plenty of excitement and buzz around his signing.

Reflecting on his injury, Yoro thanked fans for their support and confirmed the operation went well.

Taking to social media, he uploaded a series of pictures, including one of himself post-surgery, accompanied with the caption: "This is not the start I wanted, but that's football..

"The operation went well. Thank you for your many messages of support.

"Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work.

"See you soon, stronger."

He could make his competitive debut for Man United against Leicester City on November 9 if his recovery is completed on time.
