Jesse Lingard's furious response after fan accused him and Marcus Rashford of 'destroying culture' at Man Utd

Jesse Lingard gave a furious response after a fan accused him and Marcus Rashford of 'destroying the culture' at his former club Manchester United.

Lingard came through United's academy and spent 11 years with the club as a professional.

He scored the winning goal in the 2016 FA Cup and was a consistent member of the team under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

After leaving Old Trafford at the end of his contract in 2022, Lingard spent an unsuccessful season at newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.

He now plays for Korean K League 1 side FC Seoul.

And after early criticism of his performances in South Korea, Lingard is living up to his billing and has scored seven goals in 24 appearances this term.

He is also captain of the club, having been appointed to the role ahead of the 2024/25 season getting underway.

Now 32, Lingard's time at Manchester United is now long behind him, but earlier this year, he responded to a fan who was less than complimentary about some of his performances at Old Trafford.

The fan wrote: "Him [Lingard], Pogba and Rashford destroyed the culture, even Rooney admitted. He was let have his own culture with those two vultures after Sir Alex left."

Lingard replied: "Please explain how me Paul and Marcus destroyed Manchester United's culture? Waiting for explanation???????"

In defence of the ex-United midfielder, another fan said: "You made us play well which some dumb b****** that 'support' this club don't like because you dance and have fun..."

Lingard wrote back: "Lool we was just enjoying our life of we played for biggest club in the world of course we made mistakes and we learn but we gonna have fun and smile and dance."

What did Rooney say about Lingard?

Fellow United legend Rio Ferdinand once claimed that former team-mate Rooney had reacted to an Instagram video which showed Pogba and Lingard dancing after a match.

Speaking on his 'Rio Ferdinand Presents' YouTube show, he said: "I rang Wazza when I saw Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard dancing on Instagram when we were sixth in the league.

"I rang Wazza and said, 'What's going on here? How are you allowing this?' And he said, 'You can't say nothing, man. It's not the same anymore. It's not just those two, there would be a big group looking at me like I'm mad if I said anything'."

But in an interview with Sky Sports last year, Pogba denied that claim: "I've been hearing stuff that Wayne Rooney once said we lost a game, and me and Jesse were dancing in the dressing room.

"You need always a witness on this. If somebody can confirm what Wayne Rooney said, who was in the changing room, I will accept it. But if not, that means it's not true.

"I am someone who is a very bad loser, I respect what I do, and I respect the club. After a game that I lose, me coming in the dressing room and playing music and Wayne Rooney, a legend of the club, sitting there and not saying anything to us? Does it match? Nobody in the club will say anything if we dance after losing a game? Hmm."
