Jadon Sancho has already been sent a warning former England teammate having been heavily linked with a move to Serie A side Roma.

A £73 million signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, Sancho was frozen out by Erik ten Hag at Manchester United and spent time back on loan at his former club, before spending last term with Chelsea.

Sancho played 41 times and scored five times as Chelsea won the Conference League and returned to the Champions League.

But despite scoring in the final, Chelsea decided against signing Rashford permanently and paid a £5 million penalty fee to United as a result.

Sancho was not invited back to first-team training by Ruben Amorim at United and has been forced to train separately from the main group, along with the likes of Antony and Tyrell Malacia.

He has received interest from Dortmund, Juventus and Besiktas but Paul Joyce of The Times claims Roma are in for the former Manchester City man.

The Giallorossi have made a bid to sign Sancho on a season-long loan and also want to add Aston Villa's Leon Bailey to the ranks.

Sancho has already played abroad with Dortmund but he could join a wave of English players who moved to Italy in recent times, including Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, Chris Smalling, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The latter has played close to 50 games in Serie A and found difficulty with the tactical style of the league and how football is played in the Italian top tier.

"It’s a very tough league, I’ve felt in the first six months here," Loftus-Cheek said in an interview with the AC Milan website.

"The teams, they’re all tactically good. It’s so hard to break teams down, it’s like a chess game. You have to work so much more as a team in Italy, which has improved my game a lot and my learning."

Sancho's terms for leaving Man United

Sancho still has one year on his contract at Old Trafford and the club do have the option to extend it for one more season. His wages of £250,000-a-week are a stumbling block though, especially with United preferring a permanent sale.

However, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed the winger will only leave on "his terms" and is prepared to sit and collect a mammoth salary without even playing.

"We saw him reject a wage drop to join Chelsea and a Napoli chance passed him by for similar reasons," he told United in Focus.

“The message we are getting is that Sancho has made it clear to United that he is prepared to sit and not play until January or beyond unless he gets the deal he wants.”
