Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho once settled the GOAT debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when picking his dream team-mates.

Sancho is back at Dortmund on a six-month loan deal, which will run until the end of the season.

A behind-the-scenes video posted on the German club's social media channels has already shown the 23-year-old settling back into life at Signal Iduna Park, having spent three seasons there before his £73 million move to United in 2021.

It was in Germany that he established a reputation as one of the top young wingers on the planet, although that form didn't quite translate to Old Trafford.

Back in 2020, Sancho took part in an interview with SoccerBible, and was asked to name the players he had felt most star-struck by on a football pitch.

Alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, he chose one other player - Messi.

Sancho then went on to describe the Argentinian genius as the 'best player in the world', explaining: "Messi, Mbappe, Neymar - that was kind of mind-blowing [shaking their hands for the first time before a match].

"Mbappe's near me in age, but what he's done, you have to respect it. Won the World Cup at such a young age, carried the team... hats off to him.

"That's a great player right there. And obviously Neymar, I look up to him. I see me as him. I relate to what he does on the pitch.

"And then Messi just speaks for itself. Best player in the world."

But he also added Ronaldinho to his list of idols growing up, adding: "Just watching clips of Ronaldinho, he was my idol.

"What he used to do on the pitch was just crazy. He used to make it look so easy. He tried different things and he wasn't scared."
