Jadon Sancho won a penalty for Borussia Dortmund in their 4-0 win over FC Koln - but was stopped from taking it by a team-mate.

The England international is playing his second game for Dortmund since re-joining the club on loan from Manchester United earlier this month.

Sancho was lacking match fitness after his four-month exile from United's first team, but didn't let that show in a lively 36-minute cameo against Darmstadt last week as he provided an assist.

And in his first start in his second spell for the club, Sancho won a penalty in the early exchanges of the second half.

Germany forward Niclas Fullkrug took responsibility from the spot and scored to put Dortmund 2-0 up on 58 minutes.

Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger posted, though, that Sancho 'begged' the 30-year-old to allow him to take the penalty - with Fullkrug then denying his request.

There appeared not to be too many hard feelings afterwards, though, with both players embracing during the subsequent celebrations.

Dortmund extended their lead to 3-0 just three minutes later, ex-Arsenal forward Donyell Malen firing in.

And substitute Youssoufa Moukoko made it 4-0 in injury time to seal a dominant victory for Edin Terzic's side, who now are level on points with fourth-placed RB Leipzig in the race for the final Champions League qualification place.

The game as a whole didn't quite pass without controversy, though.

The match was halted after just 12 minutes when fans threw chocolate coins onto the pitch, in protest against plans for private equity investors to be introduced into the Bundesliga.

Both sets of fans also unfurled banners opposing the plans - mirroring the banners that were on show during Dortmund's Champions League home tie against Newcastle in November.
