Harry Maguire has been mocked by a Leeds United player in the wake of Manchester United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Brennan Johnson scored the game’s only goal as Tottenham edged past United to win their first trophy of any kind since 2008, and their first European title since 1984.

Few United players endured a more testing evening than Maguire, who spent much of the game and its aftermath in a war of words with Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero.

And the England international’s bad night continued even after leaving the pitch.

Indeed, Leeds’ Harry Gray, who is the brother of Tottenham youngster Archie, took a jibe at Maguire on Instagram, seemingly in response to one of the defender’s historic social media posts.

Last season, Maguire mocked Leeds supporters by sharing an image of their play-off defeat to Southampton on his Instagram story, alongside the captions: “Hope everyone having a fantastic Sunday.”

On Wednesday evening Gray hit back, sharing an image of Tottenham players celebrating their Europa League victory, coupled with the caption: “Hope everyone had a fantastic Wednesday.”

The Europa League final loss capped off United’s worst season in the Premier League era, with Ruben Amorim’s men currently 16th in the Premier League table, on 39 points with a game remaining.

United defender Luke Shaw told Sky Sports: "A lot has to change, it's clear to see. That's why I say Ruben is 100 per cent the right person. He knows what is to be done at this club, I believe he will do everything to make that change and put Manchester back at the top.

"I think the fans? I understand that right now they are going to be annoyed. And rightly so. But all I can say is thank you so much for the support.

"Everywhere we go, including where we are in the table, the results we've had this year, they've always still been there.

"I can only say firstly thank you so much for your support, and secondly we're very sorry for what they've had to go through this season. It's been nowhere near good enough and I can only apologise for that.

"We have to look at the positives and the only positive is we can only go up from here. We're at rock bottom now, we have to find a way drive ourselves back and get back to where this club deserves to be."
