Harry Maguire did two things immediately after scoring vs Copenhagen that will delight Man Utd fans

Maguire had a great reaction to the goal.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire scored the winning goal in his side's Champions League win over Copenhagen - and did two things after his goal which will delight fans.

After what has been a particularly difficult 2023 for Maguire, underlined by his lack of playing time, the England centre-back has been afforded more opportunities in recent weeks by manager Erik ten Hag.

He started United's 2-1 win over his former club Sheffield United on Saturday, and earned the player of the match award for his display.

As a result, he was rewarded with another start against Copenhagen - and made sure he made it count.

On 71 minutes, Maguire was first to Christian Eriksen's back post cross, nodding his header beyond goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

After the match, all four corners of Old Trafford were chanting Maguire's name during his post-match interview - capping off an incredible night for the centre-back.

But immediately after his goal, the defender also did two things that all United fans will have loved.

Old Trafford erupted after Maguire's header went in, with the defender initially looking to have been overcome by the moment as he ran motionless in a straight line.

The gravity of the goal then seemingly sunk in a few seconds later, with Maguire sliding to his knees in front of the United faithful.

The defender then made a heart gesture to the Stretford End, before thumping the United badge on his chest.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Maguire said of his goal: "It's amazing. This is Manchester United - one of, if not the most scrutinised club in the world. When you're not quite on your game, it gets picked up and it gets analysed.

"I'm really proud and pleased with the way I've acted over the last six to 12 months, and I've been given an opportunity now.

"I just want to be here to help the team and to get this club back to where it should be."
