Harry Maguire has been praised by his fellow professionals after his Manchester United redemption story was complete on Tuesday night.

The England defender, who has been booed by his own fans and subjected to strong criticism, scored the winner in the Champions League win against Copenhagen.

Maguire popped up with a bullet header from a Christian Eriksen cross in the 72nd minute.

It followed up his Man of the Match display against Sheffield United at the weekend.

You could see how much it meant to Maguire, who celebrated with pure passion.

And having had a tough time of late, plenty of footballers have reacted to his euphoric moment at Old Trafford.

Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil weighed in, also gave props to Andre Onana, who saved a last-gasp penalty from Jordan Larsson to kickstart his United career.

He wrote: "Harry Maguire & Andre Onana deserve that - silencing their haters."

Maguire posted a picture of him celebrating on Instagram and the comments section was full of support from big names.

England colleague Jude Bellingham, having scored in the Champions League for Real Madrid yet again, said: "Love to see it H."

Declan Rice helped Arsenal to an away win over Sevilla and he added: "Buzzing for you H."

Antonio Rudiger commented "Big man", with Ian Wright writing: "Brilliant".

The praise will have a meant a lot to Maguire, who was also serenaded by United fans after the final whistle.

Abused by fans for club and country, Maguire looked set to leave United in the summer after being stripped of the captaincy but stayed put and is now reaping the rewards.

He told TNT Sports: "When you are not on your game it gets picked up, but I am really proud and pleased how I have acted over this six to 12 months. I have been given an opportunity and I want to help the team and get the club back to where it should be."
