Gary Neville singles out five Man Utd players for unforgivable error in Newcastle defeat

Gary Neville singles out five Man Utd players for unforgivable error in Newcastle defeat

Gary Neville fumed at FIVE Manchester United players for their role in Lewis Hall's goal.

Gary Neville called out FIVE Manchester United players for their role in the build-up to Newcastle United's second goal.

Newcastle knocked holders Man United out of the Carabao Cup following their stunning 3-0 victory on Wednesday.

Miguel Almiron opened the scoring, with Lewis Hall doubling his side's lead before the break. Joe Willock added a third in the 60th minute as the Magpies ruthlessly trolled their domestic rivals following the result.

Hall's goal, however, angered Neville, who raged on commentary as he singled out FIVE players for their role in Newcastle's second goal in the first-half.

He slammed Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Casemiro, Hannibal Mejbri and Anthony Martial for 'sleeping' and 'whinging'.

Those players were seen complaining to match referee Robert Jones when he blowed for a foul.

The visitors wasted no time as they quickly restarted, with Almiron and Willock combining before Hall volleyed a loose ball into the back of the net.

Neville fumed: "They're just sleeping, they're complaining to the referee whinging.

"And while they're whinging, Newcastle are winning."

The former Man United captain shared his thoughts after the game, too, as he claimed Erik ten Hag is 'struggling in front of our eyes' in a damning verdict.

He said: "Last night we saw the Theatre of Dreams turn into the Theatre of Nothing. Every single United fan bored and flat. On the pitch the players in shock, the performances woeful and a manager struggling in front of our eyes. We've seen it before, we know how it ends and we've had enough."

Man United, who occupy eighth place in the Premier League table, resume their faltering league campaign on Saturday when they travel to Fulham.

Will Ten Hag turn his team's fortunes around? Let us know what you think.
