Gary Neville has given his thoughts on Manchester United’s past ten years and offered an assessment of their star signing Rasmus Hojlund.

The 2024 European Championships got underway on Friday as hosts Germany dominated Scotland in a convincing 5-1 victory.

Denmark’s campaign got underway on Saturday, as they faced Slovenia in the opening fixture of group C, which also includes England and Serbia.

Central to Denmark’s success, will be their star striker Rasmus Hojlund, who moved to Manchester United from Atalanta last summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Premier League giants for £72million, their most expensive signing of the 2023 summer transfer window.

And former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville, has offered his opinion on the Danish striker.

Speaking on ITV, he said: “I think he has done well.

“When you think about what Manchester United have done to players in the last 10 years, they've broken seasoned internationals who have signed for big money."

The pundit continued his scathing assessment of Manchester United, who he believes must recruit another striker this summer.

Neville added: "The lack of stability in the club over the last 12 months, all the changes, particularly up at the top, they've got basically no centre-forwards other than him. They've got wide players who were out of form that weren't giving him the type of service he needed."

"But he scored 16 goals in 35 starts and most of all, he stood up that kid. During the tough times in the season, he was the one who I thought 'what a personality he's got.' That's all you need."

"I think he should have been supported more by having a more experienced striker alongside him, but they couldn't get one in and it was all left to him. I think he's had a good first season and he's got the potential to be something pretty good."

Alongside his club career, Hojlund has impressed for his national team after making his debut in September 2022.

The youngster had 14 appearances for Denmark prior to Euro 2024 and has achieved seven goals and one assist in this time.
