Ex-Man Utd player let go by Erik ten Hag is suing the club for 'clinical negligence'

The former player is set to take Manchester United to the high court.

Ex-Manchester United player Axel Tuanzebe is seeking legal recourse against his former club for one specific reason.

After joining the club's academy at the age of eight, Tuanzebe officially left United in 2023 following the expiration of his contract with the club.

The defender made 37 senior appearances for the Red Devils between 2017 and 2021, spending much of his time at the club on loan with the likes of Aston Villa and Napoli.

Since then, the DR Congo national player has played for Ipswich Town, before recently signing a contract with newly-promoted Burnley.

However, it appears that Tuanzebe doesn't look back at his time at United too fondly, as it has been revealed that he has officially lodged a legal claim at the High Court to sue his former club.

As revealed in a report from The Telegraph, the 27-year-old's claim is in regards to alleged “clinical negligence” linked to “medical advice” that the club gave him.

Throughout his time at United, injuries plagued his career, contributing to his lack of game time during his spell at Old Trafford.

After joining Ipswich Town ahead of the 2023/24 season, Tuanzebe turned things around, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League that season before leaving once his contract expired following their relegation.

Across his time with the Tractor Boys, he made 44 appearances and played 3,412 minutes.

Comparatively, this is seven more appearances and significantly more game time than the 37 senior appearances for United in the six-and-a-half years since he was handed his senior debut in January 2017.

Tuanzebe's injury woes first started after a sustained a hip injury while warming up for United’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Liverpool in October 2019.

Just two months later, he was ruled out for the remained of the season after he injured himself during the Carabao Cup victory over Colchester United in December.

Ahead of the beginning of the following season, a foot injury forced him to miss the start of the season, while yet another injury forced him to miss the first half of the 2022-23 season, before he joined Stoke City on loan in January.
