Former United midfielder Fred has fired shots towards Bruno Fernandes ahead of Fenerbahce's clash with Manchester United in the Europa League.

There are thousands of narratives to explore as United make the trip to Turkey, with Fred, Sofyan Amrabat, and Jose Mourinho all facing their former club.

United will be desperate to finally kick-start their Europa League campaign after two rather disappointing draws in their opening games.

Fenerbahce also remain unbeaten in the revamped league stage as they sit seven places higher than Erik ten Hag's side in 14th with four points.

Ahead of the clash, Fred made sure to try some mind games with a rather bold text to his former captain Bruno Fernandes on WhatsApp.

"I messaged Bruno (Fernandes) saying "We will kill you and he responded 'No, we will kill you' but then my friend got a red card (against Porto) so he won't play with us," Fred explained.

Fernandes saw his second red card in as many games in United's last Europa League outing after getting a second yellow for a high boot against Porto, just days after his controversial dismissal against Spurs.

Fred also referenced the difficult patch his former side find themselves in and admitted he doesn't enjoy seeing his former teammates suffer, however, there will be no punches pulled after the whistle.

"They are not in the best moment but I support them. I'm upset when they don't get good results or don't play well but against us, it's different. On Thursday, they can't play well," he opened.

Mourinho also spoke about his time at Old Trafford ahead of the game, and in true Jose style, made sure to reference his achievements at the club.

"As you know, we won the Europa League, we finished second in the Premier League," Mourinho said.

The 'Special One' also made the sensational claim that United might be crowned Premier League champions following the conclusion of Manchester City's legal battle with the Premier League.

"I think we still have a chance to win that league because maybe they punish Man City with points, and maybe we win that league. Then they have to pay me the bonus and give me my medal," he joked.
