Manchester United fans have made their feelings clear on a potential clash with bitter rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

United travel to face Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the competition on Wednesday night, with manager Erik ten Hag desperate for a positive result.

The quarter-final draw for the FA Cup took place ahead of the game, with United or Forest facing either Liverpool or Southampton in the next round.

Premier League leaders Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by United in the league earlier this season, with the return league fixture at Old Trafford still to come on April 7.

The two giants of English football last met in the FA Cup in 2021, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a late winner for United in a 3-2 victory in Manchester.

United fans are far less confident this time round, with their side currently sixth in the Premier League table - 16 points behind Liverpool.

"There's no need playing tonight," joked one fan on X, ahead of United's trip to face Forest.

"We are going trophy-less," commented another United supporter.

A third wrote: "We should just quit here."

While a fourth added: "Let’s just lose tonight and save ourselves from embarrassment later."

Liverpool are still in contention for a quadruple this season, having recently won the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp's side are currently one point clear of defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League.

They are also through to the last 16 of the Europa League, where they will face Sparta Prague.

United, meanwhile, finished bottom of their Champions League group, and were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals earlier this season.

The FA Cup represents their final realistic chance of silverware this season and under-fire boss Ten Hag will be desperate for a positive result against Forest, before any potential tie with Liverpool.
