The odds for Erik ten Hag to lose his job as Manchester United have fallen dramatically following his side's dismal 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

United suffered perhaps their worst loss of the season on Sunday after they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Spurs at Old Trafford.

Goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, combined with a controversial red card for captain Bruno Fernandes, ensured that United finished the game empty handed.

And now, in the wake of the defeat, the bookies odds for Ten Hag to be sacked have been slashed, with a clear favourite for his replacement as United boss emerging.

The odds from SkyBet currently have Ten Hag as 8/13 to be the next Premier League manager to leave their club, placing him as drastically more likely than the second favourite Gary O'Neill at 6/1.

United have won just three matches out of eight across all competitions this season, with two wins, one draw and three losses in the Premier League.

They have failed to win any of their last three matches, having drawn back to back games with Crystal Palace in the Premier League and FC Twente in the Europa League.

The result is also the second time this season that they have been dominated by a top six club at Old Trafford, with Liverpool also beating the Red Devils 3-0 shortly before the international break.

Should Ten Hag lose his job as United boss, the clear favourite with SkyBet to replace him remains former England manager Gareth Southgate, who left his role as manager of the Three Lions after the 2024 European Championships.

Southgate is currently 2/1 to take over from Ten Hag, with current United assistant manager and club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy the second favourite at 11/4.

After the match, Ten Hag argued that the red card shown to Fernandes is ultimately what cost them the match as it removed any chances of a comeback.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I don't think it's a red card.

We had big chances with Zirkzee and Garnacho, it was only 1-0 so we could have made a comeback and I think it had a big impact on the game."
