David Ornstein has dropped a new update on Marcus Rashford's Manchester United future as the journalist has hinted at his next career move.

Rashford has been excluded from Ruben Amorim's last three match-day squads.

His future has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with the 27-year-old admitting he's 'ready for a new challenge'.

Naturally, Rashford has been strongly linked with several clubs, including a sensational swap deal that has reportedly been 'given the green light'.

But Ornstein has suggested a loan deal might be a more 'sensible' idea considering the player is not currently playing and earns an extremely high wage.

He claims a January sale is hard to 'envisage', stating a summer move is more likely to materialise.

A loan transfer would give him the chance to 'get back on track' and 'rebuild his value' before the issue is revisited next summer.

Ornstein adds that taking Rashford on a temporary basis should avoid whoever gets him having to cover the whole of his salary.

Per the report, Man United have benefited from similar arrangements in the cases of Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood, who went on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Getafe respectively before securing permanent deals away from Old Trafford.

There is no indication they are pushing such a route yet, according to Ornstein who believes it is one to watch ahead of the transfer window reopening.

Rashford has made 27 appearances across all competitions this season and hasn't played since his outing in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen.

But the star forward is keen to play, according to Amorim who explained: "Yeah, it’s my decision. He wants to play. He is trying.

"When I feel that is the right moment, I will change something. Until then I will continue to think about what is best for the team.

"I spoke with a lot of players individually during training, so I’m trying to do things my way - it’s the only way I know.

"If I don’t do that, I will lose myself. And I will not lose myself. I know what I’m doing."
