Odds slashed on Marcus Rashford's next club after Man Utd star dropped for win over Man City

Marcus Rashford was completely left out of Manchester United's squad for the win over Man City following reports he is up for sale.

Odds have been slashed on Marcus Rashford's next club after he was dropped from Manchester United's squad for the derby win over Manchester City.

Both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were omitted from the squad by Ruben Amorim, who stressed that it was simply a selection choice rather than a disciplinary issue.

Amorim said the duo had trained "really well" in the morning prior to the trip to the Etihad Stadium but said he pays attention to "everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game" when it comes to preparation.

In the absence of the two forwards, United claimed a dramatic 2-1 win against their rivals thanks to late strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.

Amorim has proved he isn't afraid to make big calls at Old Trafford and strong reports indicate that united are willing to offload Rashford after a poor run of form.

An academy product, Rashford has been with the club at the age of seven and scored 138 goals in 425 games ever since making his debut as an 18-year-old in 2016.

But there are major doubts about his long-term future at United, with his body language continuing to be less than impressive in his reaction to being taken off early against Viktoria Plzen on Thursday.

Reports say United would consider offers in the region of £40 million for the England international and the odds for Rashford's next club make for interesting reading.

With Bet365, both Barcelona and Chelsea are priced at 8/1, with odds of 6/1 for Arsenal. It is 7/1 for any Saudi Pro League team but the overwhelming favourites are Paris Saint-Germain, who have a long-standing interest in Rashford and reportedly met with his representatives back in 2022.

Odds for Rashford to end up in Paris can be priced at 4/1.

Selling Rashford would be a pure profit transfer for United on the PSR balance sheet because he is a homegrown player.

He is believed to be one of the club's highest-paid players, earning around £325,000-a-week after signing a lucrative five-year deal in 2023.

Speaking after the win about Rashford and Garnacho, Amorim further elaborated on why he dropped the pair but said they have the chance to be in contention again.

"Next week, next game, new life," he said.

"They are fighting for their places. For me, it's important - the performances in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with team-mates, the way you push your team-mates. Everything is important in our context in the beginning of something when we want to change a lot of things.

"When people in the club are losing their jobs, we have to push our standards incredibly high and for that they have to fight for a place in the team."
