Cole Palmer could face an awkward conversation with one Manchester United star if he makes a shock move to Old Trafford.
Palmer, 23, came through the youth system at Manchester City before leaving for Chelsea back in 2023.
The Englishman was sold for a reported initial fee of £40 million, with potential add-ons worth around £2.5 million.
Since then, Palmer has become a key player at Stamford Bridge and also for England.

So far for Chelsea, Palmer has scored 48 goals in 110 matches and has lifted the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.
However, this week, it has been claimed that Palmer could leave Chelsea.
According to a report by The Guardian, Palmer is “homesick” and “pondering a return to Manchester” in the summer of 2026, with United a likely destination rather than his former club City.
Meanwhile, The Sun suggested that the 23-year-old is not “enjoying life down south” and “misses” his friends from Manchester.

If he does move to United, Palmer could end up having an awkward conversation with Red Devils star Matheus Cunha.
Back in the summer, Cunha left Wolverhampton Wanderers for United in a deal worth a reported fee of £62.5 million.
The Brazilian took the No.10 jersey and has since scored four and assisted two in 21 matches.
If Palmer does join the Red Devils, he and Cunha may have a chat about shirt numbers as the Englishman currently wears the No.10 at Chelsea, which Cunha has at United.
Prior to taking the No.10, Palmer had the No.20 shirt at Chelsea; for United that number is currently free.

What has Cole Palmer said about Manchester United?
Speaking previously, Palmer admitted that he grew up as a United fan and stated that Wayne Rooney was his idol.
He said: "Obviously, I supported United, and he (Rooney) was probably the best player when I was watching them.
"Yeah, when I was growing up, I was a United fan."
