Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after seeing what Casemiro did when he was taken off against Athletic Club.

On Thursday night, Casemiro started for Ruben Amorim's side as they sealed their place in the final of the Europa League.

Already leading 3-0 from the first leg, United won 4-1 at Old Trafford thanks to a brace from Mason Mount plus goals by Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund.

As a result, they will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the final, which will be held at the San Mames in Bilbao on May 21.

During the match at Old Trafford, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was substituted with 81 minutes on the clock, with youngster Kobbie Mainoo coming on in his place.

After the match, a video of Casemiro coming off the pitch went viral.

As shown in the footage posted on social media, Casemiro shared a passionate hug with manager Amorim as he walked off the pitch to be replaced by Mainoo.

Reacting to the pair's embrace, one fan said: "That's not something you see every day.... love that."

Another tweeted: "This gave me so much life."

A third fan added: "It's been a long time since we've seen togetherness within this United Squad, and I'm loving it!"

Someone else wrote: "Gets me gassed. He’s been really good for like 2 months. F***ing love his passion, feel like he’s the type of player who could retire here."

A fifth commented: "Love this! Case has turned his United career around again! Hope he stays for another year."

After initially struggling to hold down a place in the United starting XI since Amorim arrived, Casemiro has experienced an upturn in form in recent months.

In total, the 33-year-old has made 39 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring five goals and assisting three.

United are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
