Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes quickly took to social media after watching Marcus Rashford's performance for Barcelona in the Champions League.

La Liga champions Barcelona got their 2025/26 Champions League campaign underway with a trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Thursday night.

With fellow competition favourites Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all winning their opening fixture, the pressure was on Hansi Flick's side to secure three points in the tough away game.

After a cagey first half that saw plenty of opportunities for the hosts, a win for the Spanish giants was far from certain as the match approached the hour mark.

But a stunning performance from Rashford quickly turned things around for the visitors, causing Manchester United captain Fernandes to take to social media to offer his immediate reaction.

Following a public fallout with Ruben Amorim shortly after the manager's arrival at United back in November, it has been clear that Rashford's future was away from Old Trafford.

Despite links with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, who Rashford joined on a short-term loan in January, the 27-year-old instead secured his dream move to Barcelona.

And things have gotten off to a fantastic start for Rashford, as he scored a brace to win the Champions League clash with Newcastle for his new club on Thursday night.

His first goal of the match came in the 57th minute as Rashford tidily headed the ball into the back of the net following a chip from Jules Kounde.

Just 10 minutes later, Rashford doubled his tally for the evening with a spectacular strike that rendered Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope helpless and ultimately sealed the win for Barcelona.

Shortly after Rashford scored his second goal, United teammate Fernandes took to his Instagram story to share a picture of him watching the match with a series of emojis expressing how impressed he was at the strike.

Given the fact that Rashford's exit from United over the summer was far from friendly due to his frosty relationship with Amorim, Fernandes reaction to the Englishman's performance has sparked discussion among fans on social media.

Reacting to Fernandes' post, one fan wrote on X: "This guy is a snake and it's obvious he doesn't like Amorim and wants him out."

With another adding: "This just shows the injustice Rashford faced from Amorim in the locker room."
