Bruno Fernandes's contract at Manchester United includes a release clause that would allow him to join a club outside of England for a surprisingly low fee, it has been revealed.
Earlier this year, Fernandes gave serious consideration to an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, who were willing to fork out around £100 million for the Portuguese midfielder.
In fact, the Saudi club put together a wage package that was believed to be worth £700,000 per week – a significant increase on his reported £300,000 per week salary at Old Trafford, as per Capology.
Al Hilal were confident of having an offer accepted given Manchester United's financial difficulties, and Fernandes' agent, Miguel Pinho, travelled to the Middle East for negotiations.

But in a press conference ahead of Portugal's Nations League clash against Germany in June, a defiant Fernandes confirmed his decision to turn down the offer and stay in Manchester
"It would have been easy to move there," Fernandes said.

"I know the Portuguese players there very well. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles," he added. "I can do that, and I still want to. I’m very passionate about football.”

Several months later and Fernandes has once again addressed his future ahead of what could be his 300th appearance for Manchester United on Saturday.
"As I've always said, I feel good here. I want to achieve my dreams still," the Portuguese talisman told BBC Sport.
"I can't talk for the club. I've seen a lot of people talking that I had an agreement to go already next season. If the club has done that agreement, it wasn't made with me. I haven't spoken with anyone."
He added: "My agent also knows how I work. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won't speak to anyone."

The midfielder signed a three-year contract extension in 2024, which includes the option of an additional year.
As mentioned above, Fernandes was seriously considering a move to Saudi Arabia. As well as confirming talks with Al Hilal's president, Fahad bin Nafel, he detailed the conversation he had with Ruben Amorim.

"I spoke to coach Amorim," said Fernandes. "He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They don’t need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.“
