Bruno Fernandes was visibly emotional when a reporter praised the midfielder for his availability and dedication to Manchester United during a wholesome post-match interview.

The Portuguese midfielder has played in every single game for the Premier League side this season, including Sunday afternoon's dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup.

He covered every inch of grass as a last-minute winner from Amad Diallo sealed United's place in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will take on Championship side Coventry City.

In fact, an exhausted Fernandes admitted his “lungs were on their last legs” after such a monumental effort.

Since joining the club in 2020, the midfielder has missed just one game for United through illness – a league clash against Spurs in March 2022 – and his efforts haven't gone unnoticed.

After Sunday's game at Old Trafford, Fernandes spoke to MUTV about the performances of Amad Diallo and Antony, who both found the scoresheet as United came out 4-3 winners.

He also praised teammates Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but as the interview was coming to an end, the reporter wanted to give special credit to United's captain.

"You've been a kind captain there, giving everybody a bit of praise, so I'm going to give some to you," he said.

"You are always available for this team. You always give everything that you can physically. It is appreciated by the fans all the way around the stadium. I hope you know how much you are loved by the fans."

As you can see from the footage below, Fernandes was clearly taken aback by those kind words.

Fernandes replied: "I appreciate that. You've got me a little bit emotional because there are good and bad moments, but I am always there for them."

The midfielder also revealed the message from Erik ten Hag that inspired Sunday's win over Liverpool.

“The first 30 minutes were amazing and he [Ten Hag] said we should get back, have composure to get on the ball and be brave again, not fear the result was going against us,” he explained.

“He wanted us to show ourselves, give options and have belief because we’ve done it many times coming back from bad results and we will do it again, that was the message.”
