Arsenal and Man Utd are going head-to-head for one of the most talented wonderkids in world football

The two Premier League giants could battle it out for the talented youngster.

Manchester United and Arsenal could go head-to-head in a battle to sign one of the most talented young players in the world.

The transfer window is set to close on Friday, August 30, and it's fair to say that Man United and Arsenal have taken different approaches to their summer business.

United have made four signings, with £42 million midfielder Manuel Ugarte set to become the fifth.

Arsenal have been more reserved in the market, bringing in defender Riccardo Calafiori early doors before signing midfielder Mikel Merino earlier this week.

As two of the biggest clubs in world football, both are always keeping tabs on young players who they believe will become the stars of tomorrow.

Now it appears that the Premier League giants will battle it out to sign a 17-year-old wonderkid who has been compared to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

According to Fussball.news, both clubs are interested in Rosenborg gem Sverre Nypan, who starred for the Norwegian club during their pre-season victory against Erik ten Hag's side in July.

United have been monitoring the Norway youth international for some time, but now it looks like Arsenal could beat them to his signature once he turns 18 in December.

The Gunners believe they can use Nypan's compatriot Odegaard - a player he has been compared to - as an example of how he can develop at the club.

The London club reportedly want to hold talks with Rosenborg after the summer transfer window closes with a view to signing him in January 2025.

That said, Nypan and his father are ardent United supporters, and he has previously spoken about his desire to one day play for the club.

"It would be a dream come true for me if I could play for Manchester United. I know that the club has expressed interest," he said.

The 17-year-old has featured in 19 Eliteserien matches this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists. He scored a hat-trick in Rosenborg's recent 4-0 win against Lillestrom.
