Amad Diallo appeared to reference the popular 'chill guy' meme after scoring a dramatic last-gasp winner for Manchester United in their derby clash against Manchester City.

There has been one standout player since Ruben Amorim walked through the door at Old Trafford and his name is Amad.

After being used sparingly by Erik ten Hag during his two-and-a-half year reign, the fearless Ivorian has flourished under Amorim in his new 3-4-2-1 system.

Not only has he looked at home in an unfamiliar right-wing-back position, but the 22-year-old has arguably performed even better in a more attacking role. Case in point, his performance on Sunday.

Amad, who was deployed as one of the two attacking midfielders against Manchester City, looked dangerous throughout before netting a 90th-minute winner to seal all three points at the Etihad.

Speaking in his post-match interview with MUTV that has since gone viral, Amad dropped the "chilled guy" reference as he opened up how much it meant to score against City.

"I have been waiting for a long time to have this moment," he said. "I have been working so hard every day to have this moment, to live this moment, and I am so happy the team is very happy with me because I am a chilled guy.

"Every time we are training, I put a smile on everyone's face, but in the game you have to be focused and give your best. We knew today was not going to be easy because they are in the front teams.

"But this is a derby and you have to be more angry than them and we showed we're hungry."

He added: "I am following the manager's system; he demands a lot of pressing. When I have to press, I go with 100 per cent and I do not care who is there or who is not there, I go 100 per cent.

"I was happy to win the penalty. I tried to shoot but I was maybe a little bit smart and saw the defender coming and he touched my legs.

"For the second one, we know Licha is a good player to give you this ball. At the beginning, I did not believe in the ball because it was going too quick, but I touched the ball and I scored.

"I was so, so happy to score against City and so happy to win this game. I want to enjoy this moment and focus on the next game."

Here's how fans on social media reacted to Amad's "chilled guy" reference.

One said: "Amad really said 'I'm a chill guy' in his post match interview," and another commented: "He's just a chill guy scoring a winner at the Etihad."

A third wrote: "What a guy! Such a likeable personality. So incredibly talented and yet so humble. We finally have a player worthy of the number 7 after Cristiano Ronaldo."

A fourth said: "United fans have hyped up kids for years, but something feels different with Amad. No ego, no drama, gets his head down and balls out. I really hope he’s the face of Amorims United and takes us to the top again."

A fifth added: "Amad is so so good mentally. The pressing, the touches, the combinations etc. everything is so smart despite lack of experience. Spent years mistreated and waited for his chance and didn’t put up a fit once. So humble just loves the game and does his job game after game. King."
