Alejandro Garnacho makes Man United history which has never been done before

Alejandro Garnacho made Manchester United history in the game against Everton at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho made Manchester United history against Everton in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.

United were looking for an immediate response to the derby day defeat against rivals City last weekend.

But Everton came out the traps and saw plenty of the ball in the early stages at Old Trafford.

However, Garnacho took it upon himself to drive United forward and proved to be a constant threat.

And the Argentine's positivity with the ball paid dividends as he won two penalties in the first half.

In the 12th minute, he jinked back in from the left flank and was caught by Toffees skipper James Tarkowski.

Bruno Fernandes made no mistake from the spot, slotting past Jordan Pickford despite England's No.1 guessing right.

Garnacho won another spot-kick late in the half though, this time sucking in Ben Godfrey - who clipped him as he ran at pace.

Marcus Rashford did the business on this occasion but Garnacho achieved a new feat as he became the first United star to win two penalties in the same Premier League game.

There was even a third shout for a penalty as Garnacho's cross struck the arm of Vitaly Mykolenko but VAR did not step in after Simon Hooper waved away appeals.

The last player to win two penalties in a single Premier League game was Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger, who did it for Chelsea against Leeds back in December 2021.

In conceding the pair of spot-kicks, Everton have now given away seven penalties this term.

No-one else has managed more, with West Ham boasting the same unwanted tally as the Merseyside club.

Everton also conceded a penalty in the reverse fixture with United at Goodison Park when Anthony Martial was fouled by Ashley Young.

Garnacho scored a sublime overhead kick in a 3-0 win.
