Vinicius Jr was caught gesturing towards Manchester City fans during Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League win at the Etihad Stadium.

Los Blancos arrived at the Etihad Stadium looking to get an advantage ahead of next week's second leg at the Bernabeu.

City, though, went ahead on two occasions through Erling Haaland but they failed to see out the victory.

Late goals from Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham secured a dramatic 3-2 win for the visitors.

Prior to kick-off, the likes of Vinicius and Rodri were dominating the headlines due to the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

After finding out he wasn't going to be named as the winner, Vinicius and Madrid chose not to attend the awards ceremony.

Ahead of kick-off at the Etihad, City fans unveiled a huge banner with Rodri kissing the Ballon d'Or trophy, accompanied by 'Stop crying your heart out'.

Footage later went viral on social media, which showed Vinicius being hit with 'Where's your Ballon d'Or' chants.

Vinicius was then spotted responding by showing off the 15-time Champions League winners badge on his Madrid shirt.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "ow many has he won from that 15 he’s showing?? "

Another tweeted: "He has won more UCLs than Manchester City Football Club."

A third fan added: "That's right."

Someone else wrote: "Good Job Vini...Vinicius has more Champions League titles than all of Manchester City."

Speaking after the match, Vinicius was asked about City's banner, he replied: "I saw the banner from Man City fans… and it motivated me even more.

"Whenever rival fans do things, it gives me more strength to play a great game."

Meanwhile, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said: "Rodri Ballon d'Or banner? I don't know if Vini saw that, but looking at the game, if he did see it, it was a huge motivation for him."

The two teams will meet again next Wednesday at the Bernabeu with Madrid holding a slender 3-2 lead.
