Fans have been reacting on social media after watching Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's men welcomed German Bundesliga side Dortmund to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night as they looked to continue their fine start to the 25/26 Champions League campaign.

In the first half, City raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Phil Foden and ex-Dortmund man Erling Haaland.

Foden then made it 3-0 with another fine finish from the edge of the penalty area.

Dortmund were then given a lifeline after Waldemar Anton netted to make it 3-1 with 72 minutes on the clock.

Rayan Cherki then came off the bench to put the hosts 4-1 up in stoppage time.

In the end, City secured a comfortable victory to move up to fourth place in the Champions League table, having collected 10 points from their opening four matches.

Reacting on social media, fans urged Thomas Tuchel to select Foden for his next England squad, with some demanding the German to start the City star.

So far in the 25/26 season, Foden has managed four goals and three assists in 13 matches across all competitions for City and his form is getting better as the season continues.

One fan said: "How is Tuchel not picking Foden for England? Best attacking midfielder we’ve got and arguably one of the best we have ever produced."

Another tweeted: "No one can tell me otherwise, Foden should start every game for England!"

A third fan added: "Phil Foden can’t get in England squad btw lol."

Someone else wrote: "Foden surely in England squad now."

A fifth commented: "If Foden keeps going like this, Tuchel will have no choice but to put him by default in England starting XI for World Cup."

Another fan said: "Foden needs to start for England at the World Cup."

What did Thomas Tuchel say about Phil Foden?

Last month, Foden, along with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jack Grealish, missed out on Tuchel's squad as the Three Lions took on Wales and Latvia.

Speaking at the time, England boss Tuchel explained: "No. There is also no problem with Phil Foden or Jack Grealish.

"This is the decision, if they like it or not. They know my appreciation, they know I clearly see and observe how good Phil is at the moment for Manchester City."

England are set to take on Albania and Serbia during this month's international break, with Tuchel set to name his squad on Friday.
