Manchester City are reportedly looking to spend close to £170 million in a bid to sign two players from the same club.

It has been a below par season so far for City as they currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.

In the Champions League, Pep Guardiola's men just about finished in the top 24 and will now take on reigning champions Real Madrid in a mouth-watering two-legged playoff tie.

As a result of their poor season, City were busy during the January transfer window.

The likes of Vitor Reis (£30m), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33m), Omar Marmoush (£67m) and Nico Gonzalez (£50m) were all brought in as Guardiola added some much-needed quality to his playing squad.

However, it has now been claimed that City are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

Manchester City targeting stunning double deal ahead of summer transfer window

As reported by Caught Offside, City are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.

It has been suggested that the reigning champions of England have ‘positioned themselves to have the best chance of signing Bayer Leverkusen duo, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, for close to €200m (£166.6m, $206.7m) in the summer transfer window'.

However, it was also reported that City could face tough competition from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain, who are all looking to add to their ranks in the summer.

German Wirtz is one of the most talked about players in Europe having impressed under the guidance of Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old has so far registered 15 goals and 12 assists in 34 matches across all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Dutchman Frimpong came through the City youth system before joining Celtic in 2019. The 24-year-old then moved to Leverkusen in 2021 and has developed into one of the finest full-backs in the continent.

To date, Frimpong has 28 goals and 43 assists in 175 appearances for the German club.

City will be back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome Madrid to the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League.
