Pep Guardiola calls out player for what he wore during Kevin De Bruyne's Man City farewell speech

Pep Guardiola hilariously poked fun at one of his former Manchester City players.

Pep Guardiola ruthlessly called out a player for what he wore during Kevin De Bruyne's Manchester City farewell speech.

De Bruyne received an emotional farewell at the Etihad on Tuesday as he played his final home game for Man City.

He started his side's Premier League clash against Bournemouth before being taken off in the second-off to a rousing reception.

The 33-year-old is set to depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

After playing his final home game in a Man City shirt, the club played a video package to De Bruyne, with his former teammates wishing him all the best for the future.

The likes of Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane paid tribute to the Belgian midfielder, who was joined by his wife and three children on the pitch.

Riyad Mahrez also sent his former club teammate a message, but his choice of attire was hilariously called out by Guardiola.

Speaking after De Bruyne's farewell speech, the Blues boss savagely took aim at Mahrez for wearing a NBA jersey.

"It was so nice to see Vinny [Kompany, and Leroy [Sane], and Raheem [Sterling], and the disaster outfit from Riyad, and all the players, Pablo [Zabaleta], Joe Hart, everyone was there. It was so, so nice," he said.

Mahrez took to social media to respond. On X, he wrote: "This guy," accompanied with three rolling on the floor laughing emojis.

On De Bruyne leaving Man City, Guardiola added: "It's a sad day, De Bruyne will be missed. There is no doubt about that.

"I'm pretty sure De Bruyne was not a Man City fan when he arrived here, I don't know which team he supports. But I'm pretty sure now he's a Man City fan and will be forever! And that is because there is a connection between them and all the people, and him."

De Bruyne will call time on his legendary Man City career at the end of the season, having spent 10 trophy-laden years at the club.

"I think the best way to describe my life with my wife and my three kids is that we've fitted in perfectly," he said during his farewell speech.

"I think we understand where the club has come to, and what this club means to a lot of people. And I think together we've built a big future for you guys, for the club to perform the way this club will perform.

"I know there's been a bit of a tough year for us but I think this team deserves all the support from you guys, I know they're pushing really hard and this team will be back next year, fighting for all the titles - so they deserve this!"
