Man City 'left stunned' by Premier League request after 115 charges controversy

City quickly turned down the Premier League's request.

Manchester City are said to have been left 'stunned' by a Premier League request as they await the outcome of their 115 charges case.

A verdict has yet to be announced surrounding the case, with City having been charged with 115 breaches of financial rules back in February 2023.

A small number of the charges also relate to UEFA rules. City have strenuously denied any wrongdoing.

A private hearing into the matter was held last year, with few updates released since then.

The Times report that a verdict is likely to be only made public next season.

Both parties can then appeal that verdict, depending on the outcome or any punishment involved.

The matter has been the case of much speculation and rumours online - with one high-profile social media personality making a number of jokes about the 115 charges.

Impressionist Conor Moore, who has worked with Sky Sports and impersonated a number of stars from the world of football, golf, F1 and beyond, was approached to work with Manchester City ahead of the new season.

That's according to the Daily Mail's Mike Keegan, who claims that the Premier League made an enquiry to City over whether the club would be interested in a collaboration.

It is said that Moore would have done impressions of several City stars while they were sat in the room, before their reactions would then be recorded.

However, the request was said to have been quickly declined by 'stunned' City personnel.

That is because Moore has repeatedly referenced the club's 115 charges case as part of some of his impressions, including of City manager Pep Guardiola.

In his latest sketch after Liverpool became Premier League champions, Moore impersonated the City boss and said: "They deserve it, I think the defence has been incredible. I can only hope our defence is as good when we have to defend against those 115 charges in court."
