Manchester City star Phil Foden is being targeted for a shock summer move, according to reports in Turkey.

Foden, who was controversially left out of England's World Cup squad, has spent his entire career at City after coming through the academy ranks.

Making his debut as a 17-year-old, Foden has gone on to play 369 times for his boyhood club, scoring 110 goals and winning every available trophy.

He had a difficult 2025/26 campaign and rumours about his future have emerged ahead of the new season, where City will be managed by Enzo Maresca after he replaced Pep Guardiola at the helm.

Foden currently has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and Turkish outlet Fanatik say that Galatasaray are looking to swoop in.

The report claims that the Turkish giants have firmly set their sights on Foden and see him as the perfect candidate to be their new No.10.

It's said that the 26-year-old is being monitored by other European clubs as well as Galatasaray, with his market value listed at €70 million.

While Foden is City through and through, it's claimed he is open to leaving because of a lack of game-time last season.

The possibility of Foden playing for another team has never seemed likely given his statements about his desire to be a one-club man but Galatasaray are pushing hard and want to reunite the midfielder with his former teammates Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan.

George Gardi, an agent with close links to Galatasaray, has been given "full authority" for the operation and is understood to be the one to first propose Foden's name as a key target.

Galatasaray are desperate for a new No.10 but their search does not end with Foden. Ambitiously, they are also said to be keeping tabs on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

In addition, it's noted they have been in talks regarding moves for Can Uzun of Eintracht Frankfurt and Julio Enciso, the Paraguay international who plays his club football with Strasbourg in Ligue One.

Phil Foden has 'agreement in principle' amid Man City transfer speculation

Despite the speculation and links to Galatasaray, widespread reports in May claimed that Foden had an agreement in principle for a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.

The BBC, among other outlets, reported that Foden agreed fresh terms as part of a new four-year contract which also has the option of an additional year.

There has not yet been an official announcement from City, with Foden enjoying a break from football with appearances at Wimbledon and Silverstone after failing to make Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup.

He is expected to return for pre-season training on 20 July before the club embarks on a tour of Asia with games against Inter Milan, K-League All Stars and Atletico Madrid in Hong Kong and South Korea.

City then turn their attentions to the Community Shield with Premier League champions Arsenal on 16 August at the Principality Stadium, before they kick off the new season with a trip to Bournemouth on 23 August.
