Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has been praised for his reaction after losing the FA Cup final to rivals United on Saturday.

Walker lifted the Premier League title as skipper last weekend when City pipped Arsenal to claim an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row.

Pep Guardiola's side were looking to add the FA Cup with a second consecutive meeting with United at Wembley.

But it was the Red Devils who won the cup for the 13th time following first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

City's 35-game unbeaten came to an end but Walker spoke well post-match.

Although he had got into with Lisandro Martinez on the pitch, the England right-back was measured in his assessment of the game and congratulated the opposition.

Speaking to media in the mixed zone, he said: "Congratulations to Manchester United for winning that trophy, it's been probably not been their best of seasons but hopefully that's some justification for some of my friends in there that have worked hard and dealt with a lot of stick recently."

Walker was also asked about England teammate Mainoo, who produced a Man of the Match performance on the big stage.

The 19-year-old continues to impress and is expected to be make his tournament debut for the England senior side at the upcoming Euros.

"What a talent and the generation of England's talent coming through is very exciting," Walker added.

"Hopefully he can take his form he's shown over this season into the Euros if selected."

Reacting to Walker's interview, one fan said: "Fair enough Kyle Walker".

Another added: "I'm beginning to understand why's the captain of Manchester City."

A third weighed in: "Fair play indeed to Kyle and the City boys. Rivalry and respect is much missing these days."

A fourth commented: "Speaks very well and is a beast of a defender."
