Manchester City suffered their third defeat of the Premier League season against Aston Villa, as they dropped to fourth place in the table.

Pep Guardiola's side travelled to Villa Park in search of their first league win in over a month, having drawn their last three consecutive matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, Unai Emery's men were up to the challenge against the reigning champions, coming away 1-0 winners.

Leon Bailey's deflected second-half strike was enough to seal all three points for the Midlands side, who now sit third in the table, four points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

However, summer signing Josko Gvardiol has come under fire for his performance for the visitors.

The Croatian was partly at fault for Villa's goal, having been turned inside and out by Bailey before the Jamaican got a shot away.

In truth, Bailey was a thorn in Gvardiol's side all evening, running at the 21-year-old defender at every opportunity.

Taking to social media to take aim at Gvardiol, one fan tweeted: "Gvardiol gotta be worst signing of the season."

Another wrote: "Bailey has been a stone in Gvardiol’s shoe all evening. Well deserved goal."

A third joked: "omfg Gvardiol got thrown in the air fryer by Bailey."

While a fourth chimed in: "Gvardiol is 10x worse than Dias man. Guy is a absolute traffic cone out there."

"Simply unreliable at his job," a fifth added.
