Liverpool are demanding the club appoint Xabi Alonso as new manager after a viral video shows tactical masterclass against Bayern Munich.
On Saturday evening, the top two teams in the Bundesliga faced off as Bayer Leverkusen looked to extend their lead at the top to five points with a win against Bayern.
In front of a packed crowd inside the BayArena, Alonso’s men produced a brilliant display as goals from Josip Stanisic, Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong sealed a comfortable 3-0 win.
Over the last few weeks, Liverpool fans have been paying attention to Leverkusen after it was revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp will be stepping down at the end of the season.
As a result, former Reds midfielder and Leverkusen boss Alonso has become the bookies’ favourite to take over from the German.
After the clash between Leverkusen and Bayern, a viral video has led to fans demanding Liverpool appoint Alonso.
The video, posted on X(Formerly Twitter) had a caption that read: “How Xabi Alonso's @bayer04fussball destroyed Thomas Tuchel's @FCBayern.”
Reacting on social media, one fan said: “I seen enough. Bring Xabi home.”
Another tweeted: “It’s hard to get excited about anyone else at all as Liverpool manager when you’ve had the best one possible but Xabi Alonso is giving it a good go isn’t he.”
A third fan added: “Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen COOKING? I speak for everyone when I say bring him to Liverpool next season.”

The Spaniard said after the match: “We have controlled well the right moment when to press, when to wait, who could have the ball, who could not have the ball.”
Alonso also drew praise for what he did after the match as he got his backroom staff on the pitch to celebrate the victory in front of their fans.
Speaking about his future last month, Alonso said: “To be honest I am not in this moment thinking about the next step. I am thinking about where I am right now and I think I am in a great place which I enjoy.
“I'm going to be happy if we play well and deserve to win. What's going to happen in the future... I don't know and I don't really care at the moment. Speculation is normal, my focus is here on Bayer Leverkusen.”
