Outgoing Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly admitted to his friends about one game that he 'remembers nothing from' after interest from Real Madrid.

After months of speculation, it was finally confirmed on Monday morning that Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool at the end of the 24/25 season.

In an emotional video posted on social media, the 26-year-old said: "After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season.

"This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life."

It is widely expected that the full-back will join Spanish La LIga giants Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

Back in January, it was reported that Madrid made a bid worth £20 million to test Liverpool's resolve.

However, the approach was immediately rebuffed by Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold went on to start the team's next match, which was against rivals Manchester United.

Alexander-Arnold endured a tough evening as he was heavily criticised after putting in a way below-par performance. He was replaced by Conor Bradley with 86 minutes on the clock.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo all on the scoresheet.

Now, in a recent report, Alexander-Arnold told his friends that he remembers nothing from the United match.

As reported by The Telegraph, Madrid's apparent bid had a huge impact on Alexander-Arnold and as a result, he fails to recall the events of the United clash.

It was suggested that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes was the first to check on Alexander-Arnold. The gesture reportedly 'meant a lot' to the player.

Explaining his decision to leave his boyhood club, Alexander-Arnold said: "This decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally.

"From the bottom of my heart, I thank everybody – my coaches, my managers, my teammates, the staff and our incredible supporters - for the last 20 years."

Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool will be back in action this weekend when they take on Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield.
