Liverpool fans had enough of one player who think Arne Slot has to sell when the transfer window opens next month.

On Monday night, Premier League champions Liverpool suffered a shock late defeat during their away trip to Brighton's Amex stadium.

Having won the title several weeks ago, it appears that the Reds already have one eye on the summer break, with several videos emerging of them partying in Dubai and Ibiza ahead of the game.

With that in mind, manager Slot handed rare starts to several players in the squad, but fans were not impressed with one of them and have claimed that he must be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

After waiting until earlier this month to get his first league start of the season, Harvey Elliott was once again given a rare place in Liverpool's starting team on Monday.

The Englishman got the match off to a great start, putting the visitors into the lead after converting a well-worked chance from Conor Bradley in the ninth minute, before later providing an assist for Dominik Szoboszlai.

However, his performances later in the game left a lot to be desired for many Liverpool fans, who took to social media to make their feelings about the 22-year-old known.

Posting on X, one fan wrote: "This game is the perfect example of why Harvey Elliott will be sold this summer imo. Kid doesn’t have the athleticism needed to play in midfield for Liverpool."

While another argued: "Harvey Elliott does himself zero favours either, everyone felt sorry for him all season and wanted to see him play, he gets a start today, yes he scores but his overall performance was f****** hideous. Half-hearted effort, ball watching, lazy as f***."

And one disappointed fan added: "Harvey Elliott is a bright young footballer. But not at our levels. Sorry."

Having played just over 800 minutes across 27 appearances for Slot's side this season, Elliott has been heavily linked with a move in the summer, with the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers linked with the midfielder.

Addressing his difficult season and the possibility of leaving Liverpool in the transfer window, Elliott told Sky Sports: "It's been hard with how much I've played. I've tried as hard as I could and whatever happens, happens.

"It's about what's best for my career. It's about reflecting and seeing what I can do. I'm here at the moment and I'm focusing on the final game."
