Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis chased the referee down the tunnel after Liverpool's 99th minute winner, it has been claimed.

Forest looked like they had held the Premier League leaders to a 0-0 draw at the City Ground but then Darwin Nunez popped up with a dramatic winner right at the death.

The Uruguayan headed home a delicious cross from Alexis Mac Allister and sparked some sensational scenes in the away end.

But then carnage ensued at the end of the game. Forest coach Steven Reid was shown a red card for something he said to referee Paul Tierney afterwards, substitute Felipe was cautioned and chairman Marinakis was also seen on the pitch.

And it appears as though the chaos did not end there. BBC Radio Five Live reporter Rob Schofield was in the tunnel and provided an update of the next sequence of events.

As per The Mirror, Marinakis chased the referee to his office and kept telling him to "Respect the players!", with security having to get involved.

Meanwhile Jurgen Klopp was bemused as to what caused such a reaction.

Schofield claimed: "You rarely see scenes like that in the tunnel. We saw Steven Reid getting frustrated.

"He and the Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis pursued referee Paul Tierney and fourth official Graham Scott all the way to referee's office yelling at them "Respect the players! Respect the players! This happens every week! Respect the players!

"Marinakis had to be removed by security at one stage. The Forest players were furious, Nuno looked absolutely crestfallen. Jurgen Klopp stormed past me saying he doesn't know why he's getting so much flak. It really was all kicking off down here. Furious scenes."

Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo refused to discuss the referee after the loss, which leaves his side 17th in the Premier League.

Liverpool are now four points clear at the top, though Manchester City can cut the lead to one with a victory against Manchester United.
