Liverpool’s disastrous Premier League campaign went from bad to worse on Saturday following their thrilling 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Their talismanic forward, Mohamed Salah, went nuclear, revealing that his relationship with Reds manager Arne Slot had broken down.

He made the shocking statement after being named on the bench for three consecutive matches.

The Egyptian star believes that he has been thrown under the bus by the Premier League champions. "I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don't have any relationship,” he told sports journalists.

"I don't know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club. "It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.

"This club, I will always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will. "It [the situation] is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don't get it. It's like I'm being thrown more under the bus. I don't think I'm the problem. I have done so much for this club.

"I don't have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it. I am not bigger than anyone but I earned my position. It's football. It is what it is."

Following the remarkable revelations, BBC Sport has reported Liverpool are 'open-minded' over Salah's future at the club, with sides in Saudi Arabia interested in securing his signature.

The winger confirmed he had spoke to Saudi Pro League clubs prior to signing a new contract and revealed that would have been his destination if he didn't extend his stay at Anfield.

Al-Hilal, current club of Salah's ex-teammate Darwin Nunez, are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Salah but no talks are believed to have taken place yet.

Salah has been one of Liverpool’s most reliable performers since arriving at Anfield from Roma in 2017, producing 250 goals in 420 Liverpool appearances.

However, he has struggled to find his best form this term, registering just four goals and two assists in 13 Premier League outings.

The 33-year-old is set to miss a chunk of the 2025/26 season while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to get underway on December 15. The unrest has come at the worst possible time for Liverpool and Salah. The forward signed a new two-year contract to stay at Anfield in April.
