Liverpool fans have praised Mohamed Salah after spotting what he did to Southampton star Albert Gronbaek after the full-time whistle.

Salah was again the star of the show as he scored twice from the spot during Liverpool's Premier League win over Southampton.

In front of an expectant crowd inside Anfield, the Reds fell behind after Will Smallbone scored on the stroke of half-time.

However, the league leaders moved up the gears in the second half to secure a vital 3-1 win.

After the match, a clip of Salah's interaction with Saints star Gronbaek went viral on social media.

The Dane was seen asking for Salah's shirt and as the Egyptian took of his shirt, Gronbaek appeared to take off his before stopping himself.

At this point, Salah handed his shirt to Gronbaek before gesturing to ask for the Dane's jersey in return.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Poor guy thought Salah wouldn’t want his shirt, and Mo showed respect."

Another tweeted: "One of the most humble player that ever played the game. I respect him a lot tho."

A third fan added: "Salah is a legend and has to be exemplary always."

Someone else wrote: "Classic Mo... Absolute gentleman."

A fifth commented: "Respect to Salah."

Another fan said: "That’s gotta be a great feeling."

Speaking after the match, Salah said: "It was a tough game, they had a good game plan. It worked well first half for them. But I’m glad that we managed to come back in the second half and win the game.

"The manager, his head, was like going for us – but that’s something you need sometimes."

He added: "Because first half, the game was sloppy, we just were slow and taking our time and in the last minute they managed to [go ahead in] the game. But we are now more experienced, we can manage that situation and I’m glad that we did."

Liverpool are back in Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Paris Saint Germain at Anfield.
