Fans have been reacting after pointing out what Sky Sports appeared to do with Jamie Carragher's controversial Mohamed Salah and AFCON comments.

On Sunday afternoon, Salah was the star of the show as he scored and assisted to help Liverpool beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Premier League.

After the match, Carragher and his fellow pundits Roy Keane, Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards spoke about Salah's chances of winning the Ballon d'Or.

During the debate, Carragher appeared to make a controversial comment with regards to AFCON, stating Salah could benefit from Egypt not playing in a major tournament before the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony in October.

He said: "The fact he’s playing with Egypt and he’s not playing in the major tournaments as such, or maybe he hasn’t got a great chance of winning one…I think it’s either the Champions League or the major tournament - normally, the player who excels in that (wins the Ballon d’Or)."

At this point, Richards said: "Just on you saying AFCON is not a major tournament. A lot of people at home will disagree with that. AFCON is a major tournament."

As the pair argued on the point, Carragher said: "But Egypt aren’t going to win the World Cup, are they?" To which Richards replied: "No, but AFCON is big, isn’t it? Remember when he (Salah) and Mane were going for it?" Carragher was then spotted shaking his head and muttered: "Oh god."

After facing backlash for his comments, Carragher clarified the situation on social media on Monday night and also got into a row with former Manchester United man Rio Ferdinand.

Sky Sports also posted a video on their YouTube channel, which included large parts of the Salah debate, but as reported by The Express, the clip of Carragher's controversial comments was not included.

Reacting in the comments section, one person wrote: "Sky cut out Carragher disrespecting Afcon."

Another commented: "Where's the AFCON discussion, why was it cut?"

A third added: "Bit disappointed they cut out the part where Carra dismisses AFCON."

SPORTbible has contacted Sky Sports for comment.
