Marc Guehi is reportedly ready to do a U-turn and abandon the prospect of making a dream move to Liverpool after his transfer deadline day switch to Anfield collapsed.
England defender Guehi looked likely to leave Crystal Palace over the summer after entering the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park.
The 25-year-old appeared set to depart the club he had won both the FA Cup and Community Shield with in recent months.
A transfer fee of £35m plus add-ons had been agreed between Palace and Liverpool and Guehi looked like he was going to be moving to the Premier League champions on deadline day.

However, Palace pulled the plug on the deal after not being able to sign a replacement for Guehi in time before the transfer window closed.
It means that the final chance Palace have to obtain a fee for Guehi will be in the January transfer window.
Otherwise, he will be able to depart for free when his contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of next June.

That means he could yet join Liverpool at some point in 2026, depending on if Arne Slot's side wish to spend a transfer fee or not.
But a switch to Anfield might not now be Guehi's first preference after it emerged his heart is now set on a move elsewhere.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Guehi is said to have informed his advisors that he now favours a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid instead of Liverpool.

Xabi Alonso's side are among the sides interested in the central defender and a key advantage that Real have over Liverpool is the ability to get a pre-contract agreement with Guehi in January ahead of next summer.
Clubs abroad are able to do that with Premier League players whose contracts are running down six months ahead of their expiration date.
The newspaper reports: "Mirror Sport have been told that Guehi’s number one choice is to move to the Bernabeu and snub Liverpool despite being agonisingly close to joining them on September 1.
"He is excited by the prospect of playing abroad for the Spanish giants."

If Guehi does end up moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, he would link up there with England team-mates Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Spanish capital.
The latter made the move from Anfield earlier this summer, with Real paying a transfer fee to release him a month early from his Liverpool deal so he could play for his new side at the FIFA Club World Cup.
